About Glen
I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist offering individual, couples, and family therapy
services to adolescents, and adults.

Education
I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1977. I then obtained a Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University in 1983. The final year of my Master’s degree was sponsored by a Federal Fellowship provided to study children and family issues. I completed all course work, clinical supervision, and passed the comprehensive exam while studying at Loyola University in Chicago in the Doctoral Clinical Social Work program but did not complete the program as taking time from my practice to complete research for the dissertation was not practical. My area of study in the doctoral program focused on the impact on the spiritual aspect of the individual in response to the loss of a child.

Experience
Throughout my career I have worked full time while I completed my education. My education has always followed my job in the sense that I often worked in positions that inspired interest and bestowed responsibility, which led to further education in order to strengthen my knowledge base and to establish appropriate credentials for the work I was doing. My work experience began at Larue Carter State Hospital where I worked as an attendant and later was trained to pass medication and manage a nursing unit. My final assignment was on the admissions unit but I rotated through all units including adult male, female, children, adolescent, and the research unit. Larue Carter was affiliated with Indiana University as a teaching hospital and while my experience was brief it was rich.

I then moved to Quinco Consulting Center as their new in-patient unit was opening. I worked in a variety of supervisory positions with the nursing staff and eventually became a therapist for the in-patient unit and crisis/emergency services. During this time I completed my Bachelor’s degree and started work on my Master’s degree in the week end work study program designed for those already working in the field. During graduate school I began working at Columbus Regional Hospital in the Social Work Department. My duties included providing Social Work services to Hospice, Stroke Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation, the Wellness Program, and provided adjustment to illness counseling, pain management therapy, as well as working on the new psychiatric unit. This experience helped expose me to medical Social Work practice. During this time I also provided therapy services at a Neurology office, provided contract services as a therapist at Family Services in Columbus and at Quinco.

I also was an Adjunct Faculty member at Indiana-Purdue University in Columbus and taught introductory Psychology courses there for a few years. After a few years at the hospital I was pleased to be offered a position with a group of psychiatrists in private practice. I was the first non-medical practitioner at Psychiatric Associates of Indiana with Dr.Weinland, Dr. Franz and Dr. Holdread. I enjoyed the experience of working in this situation as I received valuable supervision and collaboration from seasoned, ethical, psychiatrists. In later years the practice was bought by Columbus Regional Hospital and a few years later by Quinco. I have been providing therapy services to adolescents and adults via individual, couples, and family formats for nearly 25 years. My training and experience leads me to look at the individual and the difficulty they are experiencing in the context of their environment.

Opening this new office allows for more personalized, confidential services. My clinical practice orientation involves looking at the individual in the context of their environment in order to find solutions, to establish coping skills, assist in adaptation or alteration of stress producing situations, or to decrease painful symptoms and difficulties. I see individuals, couples, adolescents and adults. I frequently assist with problems like bereavement, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive difficulty, and difficulties in relationships.
